The town of Chang'an is located in the south extreme
of Dongguan City of Guangdong Province, it borders
on Shenzhen Special Economic Zone to the east; Humen,
the ancient pass to the west; and Lianhuashan, the
scenic spot to the north.
The town of Chang'an, with Guangshen Expressway, 107 State Road and C358 Provincial Road cutting through it, is the south gate of communications among Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen. It covers an area of 83 square kilometers and within which there are thirteen village committees with 35,000 permanent residents, 600,000 drifting people and more than 30,000 overseas Chinese.
Initial changes have taken place in the town of Chang'an from agriculture to fundamental industrialization, countryside to urbanization, farmers to city folks, and villages to social communities and it has emerged on the horizon as a famous central town of Dongguan City after more than twenty years of construction and development of reforming and opening-up.  The
Town of Chang'an has made efforts to implement the
export-oriented economy leading policy, created

of the town reached 2.4 billion US dollars last year,
which ranked the first among all the towns in China.
The export-oriented economy being the motive force,
privately run economy booms here with 508 private
enterprises and a total investment of 1.11 billion,
among which there are big name such as Bubukao and
Nintaus.
The GDP of the town was 2.38 billion Yuan last year,
an increase of 24.7 % above that of the corresponding
period of last year (the same below). The total agricultural
and industrial value of output of the town was 6.35
billion Yuan last year, an increase of 24.8 %, among
which the total industrial value of output was 6.13
billion Yuan, an increase of 25.6 % and the total
agricultural value of output of was 0.22 billion Yuan,
an increase of 2.8 %. The tax income was 1.15 billion,
which ranked the second in the city, an increase of
65.5%. Deposit of various kinds reached 9.95 billion,
an increase of 20%, among which the deposit of urban
and rural residents was 6.45 billion, an increase
of 30.2%, the deposit per person is 186 thousand Yuan
and the annual income per person excel 10 thousand
for the first time, which reach more than 10.4 thousand,
an increase of 8.6%. The social consumption turnover
reached 1.23 billion, an increase of 16%.

integrated rural and urban area has reached more than
30 square meters with more than 200 kilometers of
cement or asphalt roads above grade-B national standard,
thirteen bus routines running through the town, villages,
groups and each industrial zone, sixteen agricultural
and comprehensive markets, two 220 thousand volt substations
and four 110 thousand substation, annual power and
water supplies have respective reached 2.5 billion
kilowatt-hours and 97 million tons. Penetration rate
of telephone has reached 160%. There are altogether

a complete set of medical facilities, 7 air-conditioned
cinemas and other cultural and sports facilities such
as the Culture Center, the library, the sports center
and the golf course of international standard, and
more than 40 scenic spots such as Lianhuashan Suburban
Park, Chang'an Park and Chang'an Square scattered
in the town center and other villages. With a green
coverage rate of 40.2 % in the whole town and 100%
of the roads in the town, green grass, trees and gardens
could be seen everywhere. Chang'an is the first town
in Guangdong that has established and implemented
the Overall Planning for Environmental Protection.

Spiritual Civilization and Good Social Tendency
 As
Chang'an has been trying to improve the comprehensive
qualities of the residents, and make a Strong Educational
Town and a Famous Cultural Town, it has invested a
large sum of money to get a number of high-class educational
and cultural facilities constructed. It has 26 middle
schools, primary schools and kindergartens with A-1
facilities and beautiful environment, 12 of which
were elected An Excellent School of the province and
the city. High school education was popularized in
1996 and there were 273 high school students from
Chang'an who were admitted to go to university through
the Matriculation Examination. In 2002 it became the
first Guangdong Strong Educational Town in the city,
which is one of the first group of town with the honor
